our mission is To Improve The Lives of people living With Mood Disorders.

(and the lives of their friends and family.)

The Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA) is the leading national, consumer-directed organization focusing on the most prevalent mental health conditions; Anxiety, Depression, and Bipolar Disorder.
DBSA seeks to create an environment of understanding about the impact and management of these life-threatening illnesses by providing practical, up-to-date, scientifically-based tools and information. DBSA supports research to promote active, tolerable treatment and an eventual cure; and works to ensure that people living with mood disorders are treated equitably. DBSA provides hope, help, support, and education to improve the lives of people who have mood disorders.
1. Community DBSA creates the opportunity for meaningful lives by compassionately engaging with individuals and providing peer-led support groups, educational materials, and wellness tools that focus on resiliency, achievement, creativity, and connection.
2. Inspiration DBSA celebrates peers' accomplishments, including those of the many talented, successful individuals recognized by the public for their contributions to the world.
3. Wisdom DBSA advances learning through research and experience while promoting a transformative understanding of mental health through wide, timely dissemination of information about the latest treatments, wellness practices, and lived experiences.
4. Responsibility DBSA advocates for peers' right to choose their paths to mental, emotional, and physical wellness while promoting structures and practices that advance whole health and accessible care for everyone.

As California's state organization, DBSA California provides advocacy on legislation that affects California consumers. For information on California Mental Health Legislation and events, visit DBSA California.
